Don’t feel guilty for
wanting sexual pleasure.
Wanting such pleasure is
normal. Sex therapy can free
you from worries, guilt, and
shame that keep you from
enjoying sex. We treat
most common sexual concerns that keep you
from having the pleasure you
deserve.
Please be assured that we
understand that you may feel
embarrassed talking about
your problems. We will do
all we can to make you feel
at ease. Be assured there is
never nudity or touching in
a sex therapy
session—psychotherapy never
includes sex. Here’s just
what happens in sex therapy.
What
Happens in Sex Therapy?
Your first step is the
initial phone call, which we
know can take some courage.
You’ll speak with Dr.
Buehler personally for about
10 minutes. You’ll tell her
a little bit about your
problem to make sure it is
something we are expert in,
and you’ll learn about the
intake process, the fee
structure, and scheduling.
The next step is your intake
appointment. In this
appointment, you’ll start by
talking about yourself in
general—the kinds of
information you would expect
someone to want to learn
about you, such as where you
grew up, the kind of work
you do, and so forth.
Hopefully by then, you’ll
have relaxed a bit, and
you’ll talk about problem
that made you pick up the
phone and call for help.
Once the therapist has a
basic understanding of your
problem and your goal, she
or he will work with you to
create a treatment plan. The
therapist also will discuss
with you who might be the
best therapist for you based
on the type of problem,
scheduling needs, and fee.
How Can Sex Therapy Help
You?
The treatment plan may
include all or some of the
following to help you
achieve your goal.

guilt

While you get comfortable
with understanding your
sexual self, you’ll also be
gently encouraged to go
outside your comfort zone.
You’ll be trying some new
thoughts and behaviors to
get you toward your goal.
Even if you’ve had upsetting
sexual experiences, you can
improve your sex life. And
we’ll guide you every step
of the way.
